Why eating white kidney beans can help you lose weight?

The e main reason is that white kidney beans contain α -amylase inhibitors, which belong to a type of glucoside hydrolase inhibitors and are called "starch Blocker" abroad. α -amylase inhibitors bind to the corresponding position of α -amylase molecule and cause conformation change of α -amylase molecule, so that its catalytic activity is reduced or lost, and starch decomposers dextrin and glucose are unable to be hydrolyzed into glucose, thus avoiding the occurrence of starch being absorbed by the human body.

About the effect

According to Leonardo Celleno et al., white kidney bean extract is indeed effective in reducing fat and weight in obese people ona high-carbohydrate diet. However, there are many experiments on white kidney bean extract in animals, and I only found two in humans after searching all literature resources. One was a 30-day randomized, double-blind, controlled trial in which the treatment group did not take 445 mg of an alpha-amylase inhibitor and lost an average of 2.93 kg, while the placebo group (taking pills without an alpha-amylase inhibitor) lost 0.35 kg.

In a randomized double-blind controlled trial in China, 101 obese people were given 1000 mg of white kidney bean extract before meals every day. After 60 days, the subjects lost an average of 1.9 kg of weight. Statistically speaking, white kidney bean extract or taking an α -amylase inhibitor is effective, but it takes a long time, at least a week or two, to lose a kilogram of weight, and this was done in obese people on a high-carb diet. There is no known or limited benefit for obese people who are already dieting or have high fat intake or even obese people who eat a normal diet.
