On February 2, 2023, the National Health Commission issued an acceptance notice for pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium salt (PQQ) with acceptance number: Wei Shi Xin Shen Zi (2023) No. 0001. This is the first new food ingredient accepted in 2023. Previously, PQQ was approved as a new food ingredient in March 2022 in the National Health Commission's Announcement No. 1 of 2022, and its production process is a chemical synthesis method that can be applied in the beverage industry.
Process (synthesis method): Pyroquinoquinone disodium salt is made from 6-amino-5-methoxy-1H-ming-2-anterate ethyl ester and 2-oxopentenedioic acid dimethyl cool as raw materials, through coupling reaction, formation of heterocyclic ring, oxidation reaction, hydrolysis reaction, and refining process.

Specification and application: The purity of the product is ≥ 98.0 g/100 g (on a dry basis). The recommended consumption amount is ≤ 20 mg/day (i.e., for products with a content of 98.0g/100g of pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium salt, the recommended consumption amount is ≤ 20 mg/day, and products with a content exceeding this amount will be converted into consumption amount based on the actual content).

Pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium salt (PQQ), with the chemical formula C14H6N2O8, is a new auxiliary group that has physiological functions similar to vitamins.
