The common functional effects of Wumei
2.1 Antibacterial effects
Wumei and its preparations have in vitro inhibitory effects on various bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus in Gram positive bacteria, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Candida albicans in Gram negative bacteria. 2.2 Anticough effect
Chen Lin et al. observed the effects of various parts of Wumei on the cough suppressive effect in mice through in vivo experiments, and found that the nuclear shell, seed kernel, and purified Wumei all have significant cough suppressive effects, and the nuclear shell and seed kernel have stronger cough suppressive effects than purified Wumei. However, the flesh of Wumei has no cough suppressive effect, indicating that the effective medicinal parts of Wumei for cough suppression are the nuclear shell and seed kernel. 2.3 Sedative hypnotic and anticonvulsant effects
Li Tongming et al. found that Wumei decoction significantly reduced the number of autonomous activities in mice compared to physiological saline (P<0.05), significantly shortened the time for mice to fall asleep and prolonged their sleep duration (p<0.05) caused by the above threshold dose of pentobarbital sodium, and significantly increased the number of human sleeps in mice with the below threshold dose of pentobarbital sodium (p<0.05); The high-dose group of Wumei decoction [40g/(kg · d)] has a certain anticonvulsant effect. 2.4 Antiviral effects
Guo Peng and other researchers found that Kushen Wumei Decoction, formulated according to the ratio of Kushen and Wumei 1:1 (m: m), can significantly reduce the expression of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) in the serum of hepatitis B virus (HBV) transgenic mice. The most important factor affecting the expression of HBsAg in HBV transgenic mice is the ratio of Kushen and Wumei. 2.5 Antitumor effects
Wang Qiong et al. found that the Wumei Huanglian compound can significantly induce apoptosis of human colon cancer HT29 cells, cause G2/M phase arrest of HT29 cells, inhibit the cyclooxygenase-2 pathway of tumor cells, and have an inhibitory effect on the proliferation and migration of human colon cancer HT29 cells. 2.6 Antioxidant effects
Song Ziyu and others summarized literature and found that Wumei may be related to accelerating the clearance of strong oxidative peroxynitrite, reducing oxidative damage, and stabilizing mitochondrial membranes in the treatment of liver disease. 2.7 Inhibition of melanin effect
Zhang Liping found through experiments that the acidic extract of Wumei has a strong inhibitory effect on the catalytic enzyme tyrosinase that affects melanin production. The mechanism of its inhibition of melanin production is mainly through affecting melanin synthesis, reducing UV induced melanin production, regulating the expression of nitric oxide synthase in melanocytes, and thus blocking the transmission of nitric oxide melanin signals.

The Eating Method of Wumei
3.1 Sweet potato and black plum Congee
Method: Cut the sweet potato into small pieces, pour water and set aside. Wash and cut the plum meat into small pieces. Wash the glutinous rice and steam for 10 minutes, then boil the steamed glutinous rice, sweet potatoes, and plum meat together until they thicken. Sweet potato is rich in nutrition, and the dark plum is sour and appetizing, which can stimulate the secretion of people's salivary glands, improve appetite, and can be called a health preserving Congee to protect the gastrointestinal tract. 3.2 Wumei Sugar Water
